Trentham and Hanford - Suspicious vehicle Westerham Cl, vehicle and garage door crime prevention advice, patrol updates and Police Street Surgeries

Good evening everyone, 

I hope you all are having a nice week and are enjoying the sunshine!

Apologies if it’s been a little quiet from myself, I have been on leave and its my first day back today. 

I will be on duty now for the next 6 days and I am looking forward to a busy and productive few days ahead.

Suspicious vehicle – Westerham Close.

I have been made aware of a white transit van that has been seen on a few occasions attending Westerham Cl - I am told in the morning. Nothing at this present time has been reported as missing, damaged etc and I do have the vehicles registration.

My initial thoughts are that it may be a scrap collector? But I will be attending Westerham Cl frequently over the next several days and looking out for the vehicle on patrol. 

Today (28/05/26) I picked Westerham Cl as my location for ‘We Knocked to Check You Locked’ and visited addresses at this location.

Crime Prevention advice

Hot weather – open car windows 

I have seen a number of vehicles today left unoccupied with the window partially open. When leaving the vehicles unoccupied, please consider closing windows to ensure no opportunities for thefts to occur. 

Garage doors 

During a conversation with a resident today, the topic of garage doors came into the conversation. If you are gardening, cleaning the car etc, leaving the garage door fully open often happens as people are in and out. A fully open garage door, particularly if left for a short while, can highlight to third parties what is stored in your garage.

I would advise that if you need to leave the garage door open, close it partially when you are not using it to ensure any valuables are not on show.  A simple thing to do, but this can be really effective for crime prevention. 

Patrols

Today I have visited a number of locations throughout the area, these have included, the canal, Hanford Park, Newington Gr and Kennedy Rd/The Lea. 

I am happy to report that I encountered no issues other than a vehicle parked in an obstructive position on The Lea.
